The common false moray, false moray, grey reef eel, or plain false moray,〔(Common names for ''Kaupichthys diodontus'' ) at www.fishbase.org.〕 (''Kaupichthys diodontus''), is an eel in the family Chlopsidae.〔(''Kaupichthys diodontus'' ) at www.fishbase.org.〕 It was described by Leonard Peter Schultz in 1943.〔Schultz, L. P., 1943 (20 Jan.) (3957 ) ''Fishes of the Phoenix and Samoan islands collected in 1939 during the expedition of the U. S. S. "Bushnell.".'' It typically dwells at a depth around 56 m.
